Jim Kline began Square Dancing in 1963. He graduated from college with a Bachelor of Music Education and became a school band director, working for 11 years. Completing his Master in Education Degree with a Counseling Major, Jim has been a Middle School Counselor since moving to Rawlins, Wyoming, in 1988.

After their marriage, Jim and Kathie completed Square Dance lessons together. For a period of time after moving to Rawlins they did not dance because there was neither club nor caller. In 1998, Jim and Kathie realizing that no caller was going to move to Rawlins, began calling and reactivated the local Square Dance club. Together they attended the Cascade Caller School in 2000, and also began round dancing and round dance cueing that same year.

Jim and Kathie travel throughout the summer break from school to call, dance, and visit family and friends. They are members of the USA West Policy Board, assisted on a committee for the 53^rd National Square Dance Convention, and have been on several other festival committees.

Jim and Kathie are members of the Associated Square Dance Clubs of Utah.

Jim Kline is ASCAP/BMI licensed, a member of Roundalab and an accredited member of Callerlab.

Throughout the school year, Jim calls squares and cues rounds for 4 clubs that dance on a weekly basis. Jim not only tours during the summer months he also calls and cues for special dances and festivals in the Northwest during the school year.

Jim Kline's newest recording on Rawhide-Buckskin Records is RW-227 "Bad Moon Rising."
